Trine University: Hundreds attend International Night

Trine University’s 53rd annual International Night, themed “Designed for Diversity,” welcomed hundreds of Trine students and community members to the MTI Center on Saturday, April 9.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first time since 2019 the event was open to the general public.

Though weather was chilly outside, those inside enjoyed warm food representing areas such as Canada, England, Africa, Latin America and South Asia, we well as activities including pottery, African drums, stuffed animals, henna tattoos and jewelry.

Stations throughout the MTI Center represented nations that are home to Trine University students and employees, including Benin, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somolia, Togo, the United Kingdom and Yemen.

Those who ventured outside the MTI Center enjoyed a gaming trailer and quesadillas and lemonade from Hoosier Mama.

The main floor of the MTI Center showcased performances and contests throughout the evening. International Night closed with a fashion show co-hosted by Trine’s Black Student Union, featuring apparel from different nations and clothes designed by Trine students.
